Paapa Wastik’s ‘I-Story’ album out on January 14

On 14th January, 2018 Ghanaian reggae artiste, Paapa Wastik will be releasing his new album titled ‘I-Story.’

Preceding the release of the 12-track album, a listening session was held on December 20, 2017 with the press at Steels Lounge in Dansoman for the upcoming album.

At the programme, the 2017 BASS Awards hit maker said the album tells his story and the story of the ordinary person.

Present at the listening session were Ded Buddy, rapper Teephlow, Jahwai, Ded Buddy, Linguakat, Rodney King, Jah Lead, Ras Kuuku among others.

From the media came King Lagaze, Empress Lomo, Daddy Bosco, Fiifi Selah, King Lagaze, KMJ and Roor Eye who was the MC for the programme.

Paapa Wastik performed bits of each song on the album to the relish of patrons. He also took time to explain the songs, and gave plaudits to Ogya420 and Crownzy Beat who produced almost all the songs.

Paapa Wastik featured Stonebwoy and other Jamaican artistes on the ‘I-Story’ featured BET Award winner, Stonebowy and other Jamaica artistes.

For the past ten years, Paapa Wastik has been touring Ghana, Africa, Jamaica, Canada and the United States performing and producing alongside various artistes some of which include; Anthony B. Sizzla, Ky-mani Marley, Lutan Fyah, Capleton, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Warrior King and many others.

Notable Appearances

Paapa Wastik’s headlining appearance at Northwest Reggae Festival in Eugene Oregon, USA, Reggae on the River in California, Lafayette Reggae Festival in Louisiana, USA with Lucky Dube and another unforgettable appearance at Victoria’s 8th Annual Ska Festival at Market Square alongside Mexico’s Los Rastrillos, Jamaica’s The Itals, The Drastics and the now defunct Arbutus Trio.

Hailing from Cape Coast, Ghana (West Africa) Paapa Wastik has had a rich history growing up with music all around him since he was a young boy. During his teen years, he started performing.

In the early 2000s, his faith in Ras Tafari Livity grew stronger and that is when he decided to shift the direction of his music to strictly conscious, roots and reality music.

In 2003, Paapa Wastik released his first album ‘Mama Africa’ which was produced by himself alongside Gabriel FossatiBellania from US. The same year, he was invited to perform at the annual ‘Panafest’, a Pan-African festival.

In 2007, he released his second album which some of the tracks was produced by Tuff Gong and featured Jamaican reggae artistes like Lutan Fyah, Bongo Herman and Jah Marcus.

In 2008, Wastik song ‘Makomaa Mu Hemaa’ which was produced by Tuff Gong was nominated ‘Reggae Song of the year’ at the Ghana Music Awards. He released his 3rd album ‘Unity for Africa’ in 2012.

He has been nominated at the 2017 BASS Awards slated for December 28 at the Accra International Conference Center for two categories; Reggae Song of the year and Reggae Artiste of the year.
