Court grants GH¢ 20, 000 bail to Afia Schwarzenegger’s ‘husband’
An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to Lawrence Abrokwa, husband of actress and comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger over the recent circulation of the actress’ nude video.
Mr. Abrokwa who appeared in court today 25th September, 2017, has been charged with threat to harm, assault, publication of obscene material and domestic violence.
The court granted the bail to Lawrence to the tune of Twenty Thousand cedis (GH¢ 20, 000) with three sureties.
According to Citi FM reporter Fred Djabanor who was at the court today, the bail was granted at the behest of counsel to the plaintiff, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw who had made an application before the court.
Contrary to the notion that the Lawrence had threatened Afia with an acid in the video, Chief Inspector Maxwell Oppong told the court that initial investigations carried out indicates that the substance was water and not acid.
Mr. Abrokwa was arrested on August 30, 2017 when an official complaint of an alleged assault was received from the actress, known in private life as Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa.
He was cautioned and discharged as investigations continued into the case.
The police also had information of a video showing Afia’s nudity which had gone viral on social media and had suspected Abrokwa as the source of the leaked video.
Few weeks ago Ghana woke up to a video on social media that captured Afia Schwarzenegger allegedly to have been caught sleeping with another man.
The video purportedly recorded by Lawrence Abrokwah captures Afia in a headscarf, trying to cover her nakedness with a white towel.
In the video, the ‘husband’ Lawrence threatens to pour something in a bottle he claims is acid on her face. Afia is heard crying and begging Lawrence not to pour the acid on her.
When the issue broke, reports had it the ‘husband’ of comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger, Mr. Lawrence Abrokwah would appear before the Domestic Violence Court today, Friday September 8, 2017 to answer to charges of threat to harm and circulating obscene video. However, the case was not raised in court on that day.
Lawyer for Lawrence Abrokwah, Maurice Ampaw had told Citi Showbiz at the Achimota Police Station that the case would go to court on Monday, 11th September, 2017. Again, there was ‘no show.’
Meanwhile, Afia Schwarzenegger has posted a video on her Instagram page, seeking forgiveness for her ‘husband.’
