Calvis Hammond out-doors ‘Ma Jie Oyi’
Calvis Hammond, a familiar name in the contemporary gospel music landscape in Ghana, has released his second single “Ma Jie Oyi”.
The single was released on ITunes and all the major digital stores worldwide on the 8th of September, and will be outdoored in a live performance at his “Calvis Hammond Live in Concert” event which is slated for the 22nd of September, 2017, at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
The song serves as a precursor for his album project which will also be launched at his concert.
According to Calvis Hammond says “The time was right to produce an album. God has been so good to me, giving me testimony after testimony. What better way to express my gratitude than in song, and it just seemed fitting to start with one that speaks of His overwhelming faithfulness.”
In contemplation of this faithfulness of God to him over the past years Calvis Hammond sings:
“When I look back at where
Lord you picked me from
And where you have brought me now
It’s not been by my strength
So I won’t boast
Shi Nuntsᴐ o dromo kԑkԑ (But God, it’s been your grace)”
Indeed, the song is a praise report from Calvis Hammond, it is his story and testimony, which he sums up by simply saying
“For being my God
For being so good
Ma jie oyi (I will praise you)”
‘Ma Jie Oyi’ was composed by Eugene Zuta and co-written by Eugene Zuta and Calvis Hammond. It is written in a mix of English and his native language GA. It features Calvin ‘C’Rod’ Rodgers (who also plays for his mentor, the multi-award-winning International Gospel artiste, Fred Hammond) on drums.
It was recorded, arranged and Produced by the celebrated Gospel Music Artiste, Kofi Dua-Anto (KODA), under the record label Hammony.
